NEILSTEIN SOUNDSCAM: APPARENTLY ALL DOES INDEED REMAIN
I’m tired of posting the same old high-charting consistent sellers (heyo Disturbed, Linkin Suck, etc) and I’m sure you’re even more tired of reading about them, so this week I’d like to focus on the Top Hard Music Albums charts with a special emphasis on debuts. This week’s notable sales numbers with my own snarky comments (natch) after the flip.
Keep in mind these ranking are on the Top Hard Music Albums chart, not the Top Current Albums overall chart:
1 ALL THAT REMAINS – FOR WE ARE MANY
This week: 29,247 (debut)
Big number! I’m curious how it stacks up against past releases… I’d wager it’s their biggest first week ever since the last album was kind of a late bloomer. This was good enough for a #10 ranking on the overall charts.
3 TRAPT – NO APOLOGIES
This week: 15,538 (debut)
This band is still around? Head-strong, I’ll take you ooonnn! With that number the only people they’ll be taking on are you when they ask you if you want fries with that.
7 BRING ME THE HORIZON – THERE IS A HELL
This week: 6,435
Cume: 26,745
Kids like this band and apparently still buy their CDs with mommy and daddy’s money, but I’ll bet where they really ring the cash registers are with merch sales. Seriously, they must be rich men.
19 MOTIONLESS IN WHITE – CREATURES
This week: 3,113 (debut)
Eternal lulz at this band. They were one of our very first ever “Shitstain” bands.
31 FINGER ELEVEN – LIFE TURNS ELECTRIC
This week: 2,104
Cume: 7,562
When it comes to radio rock Finger Eleven are some of the best of the bunch. With the huge success of their last album I’m surprised this isn’t selling better.
38 DOWN – DIARY OF A MAD BAND
This week: 1,862
Cume: 7,356
Big drop (66%) in only its second week on the charts. As is always the case with live or DVD releases, the hardcore fans bought it the first week and no one else cares.
52 MADBALL – EMPIRE
This week: 1,479 (debut)
I’d be curious to know how all the shenanigans surrounding Jay Weinberg’s departure/firing affected this number…. for the better, I’d think. All press is good press!
57 VANNA – HONEST HEARTS EP
This week: 1,308 (debut)
I honest really don’t know anything about this band but I also don’t really care.
63 INTRONAUT – VALLEY OF SMOKE
This week: 1,262 (debut)
It’s a happy day when a band that plays music as challenging as Intronaut’s can break 1,000 copies sold. It’s a small number in the grand scheme of things but good for this band.
6 TANKIAN*SERJ – IMPERFECT HARMONIES
This week: 1,253 –
Cume: 15,977
This must be super-disappointing for all involved; it’s going to peter out before reaching even 20,000 copies sold unless a big radio song can miraculously save it.
72 HALFORD HALFORD IV – MADE OF METAL
This week: 1,183
Cume: 6,251
I’m shocked that so few people care about Halford unless it says “Judas Priest” on it. Shocked. (seriously, no sarcasm there)
75 AUGUST BURNS RED – HOME
This week: 1,116 –
Cume: 6,415
See Down, above.
91 SWORD – WARP RIDERS
This week: 934
Cume: 22,527
The Sword are going to out-sell Serj Tankian. That’s huge for the band, but kinda fucked up. I got nothing against The Sword… just saying.
