IS DAATH’S EMIL WERSTLER “THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER IN METAL?”

That’s what producer Mark Lewis calls Werstler in the latest Daath in-studio video report from Skulls N’ Bones. And it’s obviously the kind of statement which is gonna get people really, really hot and bothered.

But there’s a very, very strong argument to be made that Lewis speaks the truth.

Personally, I knew that Werstler was a really talented dude, but I had no idea just how incredible he was until I watched him play in the studio. He’s one of those guitar players who can do pretty much anything — and he’s a workaholic who loves a challenge. Some of the stuff I watched him lay down for Daath’s new, self-titled album was really, really mind-blowing — doubly so when you consider that he was often coming up with it right there on the spot.
