SMNnews.com tells us that Converge have a new 7″ EP on the way called On My Shield, and while this isn’t huge news to me as I’m certainly not the world’s biggest Converge fan, I know that lots of you — Axl and Sammy O’Hagar among them — will be very excited at the prospect of new music from Converge so soon after the release of their latest album.

The EP was recorded at Godcity studios in-between the band’s 2010 Axe To Fall U.S. & European tours. The release features the new song “On My Shield” on the A-side, while the B-side features a laser etching. On My Shield is limited to 3,000 copies total, and is available in three different color variations (each limited to 1,000 copies). Each copy of the release (excluding European tour copies) comes with a free Digital Download Coupon, and will be available as follows:

• Color #1 (limited to 1,000) – Direct from the band on their Axe To Fall European tour (Note: No Download Coupon is available in this version)
• Color #2 (limited to 1,000) – Through the official Converge Estore (made available AFTER the tour)
• Color #3 (limited to 1,000) – Via retail, made available AFTER the tour

There isn’t any way to pre-order these bad boys right now that I can see, so your best bet to get one is to stay on top of all Converge news to find out when they go on sale. Good luck getting yours!
