CYNIC’S RE-TRACED WILL REINTERPRET?
I dunno if this old news and I’m just somehow learning about it now, but: Cynic have released the cover art for their new EP, Re-Traced, and as it turns out, it will be made up predominantly of “reinterpretations” of songs from 2008’s orgasm-inducing Traced in Air. Of course, this isn’t a total shock – the word “traced” appears in both album titles, and the teaser video for the release tipped us off that there would be some kind of remix/reinterpretation situation here (“Evolutionary Sleeper” has become “Evolutionary,” “Integral Birth” has become simply “Integral,” etc.). I guess I was hoping that the new song we’ve already kinda sorta heard, “Wheels Within Wheels,” wouldn’t be the only debut track here. Not that “Wheels” isn’t awesome, but… I WANT NEW CYNIC! I’m greedy like that, I suppose.
Still, I’m curious to see what the band has done, exactly, to “reinterpret” these tracks. Presumably this will be well above and beyond your average rehash/remix record…
Re-Traced comes out May 17 on Season of Mist.
