Avatar, “Queen of the Blades”

I’ve never heard of this band before, but it looks like they’re huge in their native Sweden. Old-timey MS readers know that we fucking love Swedish melodic death metal around here, and, yeah, I actually really like this song. And the live show looks like it’s so much fun. Gonna hafta look into these guys more.

Do you think the fact that James Cameron’s Avatard is currently blowin’ up the box office will help or hurt these dudes? That Watchmen band didn’t get much mileage out of Watchmen, but Blue Cat People Fuck in 3-D is much more successful than Watchmen was…

Requiem Aeternam, “Purposiveness“

Also never heard of this band before. And I don’t think I needed to. The song is about as special as a high school freshman girl willing to give a BJ to go to senior prom, but the video… holy shit, is the video bad. Really, dudes? Green screen? You couldn’t afford ANY set at all? It’s not even good green-screen. I went to a bar mitzvah once where we all got to stand in front of a green screen and make our own music videos, and those looked slightly better than this.
