SHRINEBUILDER: SLOW LIKE MOLASSES, AWESOME LIKE A BJ
I’ve had some family shit distracting me this week, but there’s really no excuse for the fact that I somehow completely missed the debut of a new song by uber-supergroup Shrinebuilder. Entitled “Pyramid of the Moon” and streaming right here, it is just seven-plus minutes of sheer excellence.
I’m not sure how to describe it, other than to say that it’s doom, and it’s more or less what you’d expect from a band that features members of Neurosis, The Mevlins, Sleep and Saint Vitus. Plus, there are some wacky keyboards and some monk-like chanting, just to give it an extra level of trippy. If you dig doom and you don’t like this song, then I don’t think you really like doom as much as you say you do.
Man, I wish I was high right now. Why am I not high right now?
Check out the song here, then weigh in with your opinions below.
Shrinebuilder’s debut album will be out on Neurot, uh, sometime soon, I hope.

Wino bless Michael Lira for bringing the song to my attention.
