SUMMER DOOM UPDATE
It may be 80 degrees and Sunny today, but it’s not too soon to start thinking about the gloomy darkness of Autumn and the doomy goodness that the 2009 season is going to bring; Swallow the Sun and Paradise Lost both have new records on the way.
Our favorite Finnish doom metallers, the epic, aching, melancholy Swallow the Sun, will release their fifth full-length record New Moon on November 10th via Spinefarm Records. Knobs on the recording are being twiddled by the gold-fingered Jens Bogren who mixed the latest God Forbid record as well as past releases by Opeth, Katanonia and more. No new tracks have been posted yet, but we eagerly await.
UK doom pioneers Paradise Lost will release their new record Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us on Century Media Records on October 6 [via SMNnews.com]. The band just posted the brand new track “As Horizons End” on their MySpace page and it sounds exactly as you’d hope — fucking great.
Not doom per se but since we’ve mentioned Katatonia they’re currently working on a new record too, expected to come out this fall. Sweet.
