ALBUM OF THE DAY (TO GET STONED TO): OLD MAN GLOOM – *CHRISTMAS*
Hmm…I just had a really weird experience. I went back and listened to a few rockin’ tracks off the second half of this album by Old Man Gloom (or OMG, if you will — haha/lol/wtff), starting with “The Volcano” (my personal favorite), got really excited to write another post about the band, re-started the album from the beginning, listened to the entire thing from start to finish and realized that a lot of the tracks (including a couple really long ones), sounded totally fucking different than what I was expecting, much more ethereal/ambient/experimental. Being well aware that that type of shit might totally rub some of you the wrong way, I suggest that those of you who have little to no patience may want to skip around the tracks if need be…
That said, this sprawling, half-song-heavy-half-conceptual/ambient-in-an-artful-way album from my favorite underground(ish) metal supergroup is even more amazing than I remember, and it goes oh so well with a bubbler, although I would almost rather grind up the songs themselves, roll em up into a fat joint, and smoke that shit! However, since I only posess this album in digital form, in order to make that perverted fantasy come to tangible fruition, that would mean tracking down a hard copy on the waning compact disc format, and as we’ve already debated today — fuck CDs.
Check out one track’s worth of the strength here, and then do yourself a favor and find the rest of the album, wherever it is you may find your music. I rob schoolchildren and invalids for mine.
Awesome band pix after the JSHUMP.
