European death metal fans can get their fix today with some quick updates on Decapitated and Anata. So check out Decapitated’s video for “Day 69” above, then click through the jump for some actual, y’know, news.

  1. In a recent interview with SeaOfTranquility.org (by way of Blabbermouth), Decapitated guitarist Vogg gives an update on the band’s progress since their tragic bus accident last year. Vogg notes that lead singer Covan still requires “one, two, maybe three years” to recover and says that “it’s still too early” to know if the band is going to continue or not. Since the band’s new contract with Nuclear Blast was announced after the accident (and, of course, the untimely passing of drummer Vitek as a result of the accident), I think many of us had assumed that the band continuing was a done deal. That being said, I don’t think anyone could exactly blame the band if they decided not to go on.
  2. Sweden’s Anata are working on a new album, and even with the departure of guitarist Andreas Allenmark, that news should make your ears perk up. There’s two excerpts of new demos currently up on the band’s MySpace page; they’re not nearly enough to give us any real sense of how the new album will sound, but The Conductor’s Departure was good enough to get me excited anyway.
