A CAVE IN SONG I’VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE!?
Seeing as I’ve been anxiously waiting 5 years for a proper new Cave In album (unless you count 2005’s stitched-together Perfect Pitch Black, which I kind of don’t), I was naturally shocked to find out yesterday via Metal Bastard’s MP3 Blahg that there was a Cave In song I haven’t ever heard before, “Inflatable Dream.”
Apparently the song never appeared on an album, and according to Cave In’s website it was never released. But judging from the sound of it, I’d gander it was recorded around the time of the Creative Eclipses EP (1999/2000). There are still elements of the band’s bone-crushing, metallic hardcore thunder, but atmospheric guitars and Steve Brodsky’s clean singing have crept in as well. It could also easily be post-Antenna… Who knows.
Whatever the case, it’s fucking awesome. I’ve listened to it four times already since yesterday!
If you dig Cave In, be sure to read the extensive, career-spanning retrospective I wrote about the band a few months back (with lots of MP3s!).
