Welcome to our new weekly recap column… in which we recap the highlights of the past week (duh) every Friday. Because if we didn’t cover it, it certainly couldn’t have been important.

• Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony will jam with Joe Satriani and RHCP-drummer Chad Smith in the new supergroup Chickenfoot. Hagar proclaims it’ll be on the level of Led Zeppelin. Axl takes him seriously.
• Fred Durst will direct the new Ice Cube movie The Longshots. Actually, no he won’t.
• Two breakdowncore bands no one cares about fight over a record label no one cares about. We care about no one caring.
• MetalSucks proverbial wet dream progsters Sikth break up. Axl, Vince and Kip stop having wet dreams.
• Mastodon announce that Brendan O’Brien will produce their next record. Fans get nervous.
• MetalSucks talks a lot about the Metal Blade Fresh Meat Tour, featuring The Absence, The Destro, Epicurean and Rose Funeral, which they are sponsoring. Go figure.
