SUNDAY SONG TO GET STONED TO: KEVORKIAN – “CONFIDENCE GAME”
Ooops — stayed in bed all day yesterday with a girl who hates metal. It’ll never happen again.
While we’re gearing up for the U.S. release of Meshuggah’s sick new album, ObZen (out on Tuesday), let’s take a listen to a strong band who is no doubt influenced by the masters. As far as I know, Queens, New York’s own KEVORKIAN are still looking for a drummer, which is a cryin’ shame, but at the same time it’s hard to imagine the band’s brutal sound without their former skinsman behind the trap kit (I believe he went off to war, like so many amazing metal drummers before him…).
So while the future remains uncertain for these guys, we still have some stellar recordings to enjoy in the meantime. Here’s the one that caught my fancy, from their 2006 demo (fyi they also have a full-length called Immortality in Culture that you can listen to while getting stoned, or flambéeing rabbits, or whatever the hell it is you do on the weekends).
