SYMPHONIC METAL IS A GOOD TOOL TO HELP SELL YOUR MOVIE
I don’t know who cuts the trailers for Oscar nominated director Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy franchise, but good for them for realizing the cinematic possibilities of metal that incorporates an orchestra. For 2004’s original Hellboy, the ad campaign utilized Dimmu Borgir’s “Progenies of the Great Apocalypse” and “Eradication Instincts Defined;” for the sequel, which will be released this summer, the ad campaign is based largely around Rammstein’s “Mein Herz Brennt” (which actually translates to “My Heart Burns” – you gotta wonder why Mylanta didn’t think to use the song in one of their commercials, first). Whether or not the movie is as cool as the music makes it seem it will be (got all that?) remains to be seen.
ANYWAY, seeing the Hellboy II trailer over the weekend reminded me what a good song this is, so here’s a clip of Rammstein performing the track live. As a bonus, after the jump, find the trailers for Hellboy and Hellboy II.
