THIS IS THE KIND OF SH*T WE LIVE FOR: NIKKI SIXX TALKS SMACK ABOUT TOMMY LEE
So apparently it was “XX” day on Howard Stern this morning, since his guests were Oscar winning movie star Jamie Foxx… and Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx. Sixx being on Stern to promote The Heroin Diaries isn’t really that interesting in and of itself, but this website is claiming that Sixx had little nice to say about Tommy Lee. Lee – seen left with Sixx in happier times (and by “happier times” I mean “at a period when they both knew to just shut the fuck up and take the money”) – has claimed he’s still in the band while Sixx and Vince Neil claim he is not (which means he probably is not); now Sixx has declared that since Lee neither sang any songs for the band (at least, none of the good ones) nor wrote any of the music, the Crue should do just fine without him.
Actually, the Lee-less New Tattoo album would seem to prove otherwise, but since the Lee-ful “If I Die Tomorrow” sucks, too, we’ll just assume that any dearth of quality in future Crue releases comes from a typical “old dudes who lost the vigor of their hey day” syndrome (for now, let’s just ignore “Sick Love Song” altogether, since even though Lee was in the band when it was recorded, Sixx and producer Bob Rock brought in session drummer extraordinaire Josh Freese to lay down drum tracks).
Still, right now we feel inclined to side with Sixx in this war of words, for the simple reason that he has never, ever, never recorded a hip hop song with Fred Durst. Good to know some people are at least still kinda-sorta dependable.
