EVEN WE THINK A DETHKLOK TOUR IS RIDICULOUS

Look: I think that we’ve made it clear that we love Metalocalypse. And that we wish we really did live in a world where Dethklok were not a only a real band, but the twelfth largest economy in the world. And we’re thrilled that they’re putting out a Dethklok album, Dethalbum, next week (listen to samples here, here, and here).

But the news that they’re doing a tour is a little silly. That said tour is opening for …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead is even sillier, because while that band has a name fit for a metalcore act, they actually play garage rawk more in line with the tastes of hipster yuppies than drunken Slayer fans.

But in all seriousness, what the fuck will this show consist of? Are they going to lower a video screen and show (hopefully amusing) footage of this cartoon band performing? Are they hiring look-alikes? Will Gene Hoglan – who plays drums on Dethalbum in light of the fact that the band’s actual drummer, Axl Rose clone Pickles, is, y’know, fictional – be making an appearance? Will Trail of Dead fans even know who the fuck Gene Hoglan is?

The tour starts at the end of October. I guess all questions will be answered then.
