MUNICIPAL WASTE AND TROMA: A MATCH MADE IN HELL

Theoretically, Troma is the oldest independent film studio in America. While Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez run around spending millions of dollars trying to make grindhouse films (and failing miserably), Troma’s been doing it since 1974 on shoe string budgets with no corporate backing whatsoever (seriously, I don’t know where these guys find the money). I had the chance to hang out Troma co-founder Lloyd Kaufman once, and I’m happy to report that the man who helped to create such titles as The Toxic Avenger, Surf Nazis Must Die, Class of Nuke ‘Em High, and Sgt. Kabuki Man NYPD is every bit as nutty as you’d imagine.

So I find the news that Troma has been put in charge of the latest Municipal Waste video, “Heabanger Face Rip,” pretty thrilling. MW – like Troma – are the real deal, playing authentic-sounding 80’s style thrash without ever taking themselves too seriously. This video should be hilarious; expect plenty of monsters, violence, lesbians, and boobies. Oh, yes, there will be boobies.
