TEN BEST JEWISH METAL BANDS

The latest issue of Revolver Magazine features a cover story about the “Holy Alliance” of current Christian metal bands, which got me thinking: why are the Christian bands getting so much attention right now while God’s Chosen People get left out in the cold? There are plenty of significant Jews in metal- Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, Scott Ian, Dee Snider, C.C. DeVille, half the guitarists ever associated with GN’R (Slash, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Tracii Guns)- but I suspect the Jewish metal movement isn’t getting its due because it’s not aggressive enough. I mean, the dude from Demon Hunter goes in the press and speaks on behalf of Christ to tell headbangers everywhere not to have abortions; maybe if Marty Friedman gave an interview to Decibel telling kids God didn’t want them to eat pork, the Jews would get some respect.

To that end, I present to you now ten amazing underground bands doing everything they can to bring good solid Old Testament values back to the Ozzfest crowd… these bands are all on little indie labels without so much as a MySpace page to link to, and they’re definately NOT for the faint at heart, so seek ’em out… if you dare…
