POLL: SHOULD MUSICIANS WRITE SONGS ABOUT POLITICS?
The lyrics to Avenged Sevenfold’s new song “Critical Acclaim” have sure got everyone riled up around here. This got us to thinking, what role, if any, should politics play in music? Political subject matter is no stranger to lyrical content, from Bob Dylan through Rage Against the Machine. Should lyrical content be limited strictly to whining about your ex, or should musicians embrace their platforms as voices that the youth pay attention to? What’s your take on the issue?
