The Grammys: Still F*cking Bullsh*t
So The Grammys happened last night. I didn’t watch, and I assume neither did you. And apparently I didn’t miss anything, and neither did you.
Tenacious D won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance for their cover of Dio’s “The Last in Line.” I repeat: two comedians with acoustic guitars playing a song they did not write beat Motörhead, Anthrax, Mastodon and Slipknot for the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. This isn’t quite as outrageous as Jethro Tull defeating Metallica for the award, if only because Tenacious D is about as metal as a non-metal band can get, and even put Dio in their movie which nobody saw. But it’s still pretty outrageous. Jack Black has more Grammys for Best Metal Performance than Scott Ian does. Like, WTF???
Mastodon, for their part, had fun with it, as evidenced by this pre-show red carpet interview. I can no longer tell if Brent Hinds is fucked up, or if that’s just what he’s like. In any case, dude is hilarious. Watch:

Tune in next year, when Dane Cook will no doubt win the Best Metal Grammy for his performance of Pantera’s performance of Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan.” Stoked!
