Man, it’s too fuckin’ hot out there. I don’t know about you, but I’m gonna crank up the A/C and check out some new tunes.

Disloyal

Divine Miasmata (Black Lion Records)

Polish death metal act Disloyal returns with their fifth full-length and their first new release since 2015’s Godless. This one’s heavy and complex, with atmosphere for days. Of particular note is the newest addition to the band Konstantin Kolesnikov, who joined in 2020, since his vocals sound like he dove into the pits of Hell to achieve his tone.

Obscene

Agony & Wounds (Nameless Grave Records)

We ran an exclusive album stream yesterday, so hopefully you checked it out already and you know just how punishing this thing is. Rather than rehash my thoughts on the album, here’s what I said yesterday: “Agony & Wounds is fast, furious, dense, and vile in all the ways you want out of a modern death metal album. From the oppressively heavy “Death’s Denial” to the sonic battering ram that is “Watch Me When I Kill”, this album attacks from all angles like a pack of starving wolves.”

Plutocracy Planet

Plutocracy Planet (Plutocracy Planet Publishing)

This wild “sociopolitical music collective rooted in heaviness, electronics, and stylistic infidelity” is probably the craziest release of the week. This thing’s got insane energy in it and it’s bursting at the seams with guest spots by the likes of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Liam Wilson, The Callous Daoboys’ Carson Pace, Protest the Hero’s Rody Walker, and a whole lot more. Seriously, this thing is off the charts crazy but it makes for one hell of a listen.

Unearth

Bask In The Blood Of Our Demons (Century Media)

We usually don’t highlight EPs in this weekly feature, but this one’s an exception. Featuring just two new tracks and two live cuts from a show in Texas last year, this surprise EP from metalcore mainstays Unearth is absolutely worth your time. “Sea Of The Lost” is an absolute banger that features some of the best vocals out of Trevor Phipps to date. But that’s not to say the rest of the guys don’t absolutely bring it.
