YouSuck: MetalSucks Readers’ Top Albums of March 2024

0

Another month, another exercise in heavy metal democracy, as we unveil the top albums of March 2024 as voted by you — the MetalSucks reader. I really think March was the breakout month for 2024 when a whole mess of great albums came out. From Judas Priest to Leather Lung to Bruce Dickinson’s solo album and everything in between, there was just so much to enjoy.

For those that don’t know, we’re polling our readers to see which albums they liked the most in 2024. Voting will take place throughout the entire month, with the highest vote-getter moving on to the final round in December, where we’ll vote for the reader’s favorite album of the year.

However, the results from this particular poll are… interesting, to say the least. But who am I to question the will of our readers? You guys picked what you picked and now we’ve got the results. So as promised, here’s the results from March’s abundant list of albums, as voted by you.

Top Albums of March 2024

Omnivide — A Tale Of Fire (129 votes)

The top vote getter for March came for a band’s debut album, as Canadian progressive metal outfit Omnivide’s A Tale Of Fire received 129 votes. Rife with elements of prog metal, tech death, and symphonic/power metal, these guys have some big sounding riffs, thundering rhythms, and epic moments full of soaring vocals. If you like grand sounding metal about historical figures and fantasy, this is your jam.

Atrophy — Asylum (99 votes)

Some good old fashioned thrash metal makes this month’s top album list. Around since 1987, this is the band’s third full-length studio effort and their first since 1990’s album Violent By Nature. That’s right — it’s been 34 years since the release of their last full-length, but their focus on mainstream media and other social ills are just as relevant now as they were back then. And while you can definitely tell these guys are rooted in the old school, the tunes have that modern production that cuts through the noise.

Sonic Wolves — III (93 votes)

Italian heavy metal band Sonic Wolves are back with their third full-length effort aptly titled III. Steeped in the sound of stoner and doom metal, these guys have a sort of fuzz to their sound that I can jam with. If you’re looking for something to nod your head to while rolling your next joint, this is definitely one to check out.

Judas Priest — Invisible Shield (60 votes)

Honestly, I’m surprised the new Judas Priest album got as few votes as it did. I would have sworn this kick ass slab of heavy metal would be higher up, but them’s the breaks. In this one, everyone from Scott Travis to Rob Halford sound like they’re in tip-top form. It really sounds like a continuation of their previous album Firepower — and that’s a great thing.

Ocean Of Another — One Day This Pain Will Subside (41 votes)

This one’s sure to get some people in a pissy mood, as Ocean Of Another is a metalcore band that hails from Croatia. As the only EP to make the list, this has five tracks of highly electronica and industrial metal-inspired, djenty sounds. If you don’t like autotune in the vocals, don’t try this one.
