Doro Pesch Presented with German Lifetime Achievement Award

0

Heavy metal icon Doro Pesch was honored for her career spanning nearly four decades yesterday, as she received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Berlin.

Born in Düsseldorf, Dorothee Pesch got her start in the rock and metal scene as the lead singer for Warlock, a German heavy metal band that frequently toured with big names like W.A.S.P., Dio, and Judas Priest. After being forced to change the band’s name to Doro for legal reasons, she went on to forge a career that’s run pretty much run uninterrupted since 1982.

All of that time and effort forging her path in the male-dominated world of rock and metal resulted in her being formally recognized with the Pop Culture Prize, which was awarded in Berlin’s “Admiralspalast.”

“What an honour. This award totally motivates me to always go full throttle and give everything! From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who has supported me.”

With 17 studio releases and countless EPs and DVDs listed in her discography, Doro’s career is an impressive one by any stretch of the imagination.

Later this month, Doro is setting out on an European tour, with dates starting in Lindau, Germany and ending in Düsseldorf. If you’re in Europe, you can check the list below to see if she’ll be at a venue near you.
