Glenn Danzig Confirms That “There’s Not Gonna Be Many More” Misfits Reunion Shows
Last week, our friend and longtime contributor D.X. Ferris filed a story in which he took an in-depth look at legal documents from the lawsuit settlement between original Misfits members Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only. One stipulation in those documents was that “The parties agree to perform no fewer than ten (10) Misfits reunion shows to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the band.” Given that…
- The reunited version of the band has already played seven shows
- An eighth show is scheduled to take place in Denver on September 7 and a ninth is scheduled to take place in Seattle on September 19
- Danzig and Only reportedly hate one another’s guts
…Ferris surmised that there would be just one more Misfits reunion show after the Washington one, to fulfill the settlement between the two musicians.
Now Danzig has given a new interview to Full Metal Jackie in which he addresses the remaining number of shows. And while he doesn’t provide an exact figure, he does make it clear that there won’t be a lot:
“With the Misfits thing, we just kinda got back together and just decided we’d do it here or there, and just not make it a grind kinda tour. We just want to make each event special. We’re not gonna do many more. I know we just announced Seattle and Denver, but I’m pretty sure there’s not gonna be many more of them.”
Danzig went on to say that “people should see it while they can.” So it would seem that Ferris wasn’t that far off the mark (if he was off the mark at all).
Elsewhere in the same interview, Danzig promises his Elvis covers album will be out in the fall, and says he’s planning to make at least two more movies after Verotika, which premiered last week, and was subsequently savaged by critics. So at least we have all that to look forward to.
