Wanna Watch the New Red Fang Video? You’re Gonna Hafta Headbang

Is there still such a thing as the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award? Can we take Michael Jackson’s name out of it and give one to Red Fang? They are on a very short, elite list of bands who have consistently made amazing music videos, and they deserve all the kudos they can get.

Case in point: the video for their latest single, “Antidote,” has arrived via an app written and directed by Wieden+Kennedy creative Ansel Wallenfang. That in and of itself might not sound interesting, but check this shit out: the app is a distinctly ’90s-esque arcade game which requires the viewer to consistently headbang, lest Red Fang die. The game even features a cameo by one Mr. Matt Pike!

One minor problem: once you start headbanging, it becomes difficult to actually, like, see the video. A press release tells me that “The app features three alternate endings,” but I have to take their word for it, because it’s all just a blur of colors when you’re constantly shaking your phone and your eyes.

Still, this is a reallyhere cool idea, and I’m confident that with practice, I may actually see the entire video someday. In the meantime, you can watch a trailer for the app below, and download it .
