One Version of Batushka Drops a New Track
One version of Polish black metallers Batushka, the members of which are currently engaged in a legal battle over the band’s name, dropped a brand new track over the weekend called “Батюшка – Песнь 1 (Batushka – Pecn’ 1).”
This version of Batushka is the one led by band founder and guitarist Krzysztof Drabikowski, who claims his band was stolen from him by the other members. While Drabikowski recently shared an order by a Polish court demanding the other version, led by vocalist Bartłomiej Krysiuk, halt operations while the case proceeded, the Krysiuk-led Batushka — let’s call it Ba2shka — is moving forward with its plans to release an album via Metal Blade Records.
Check out “Батюшка – Песнь 1 (Batushka – Pecn’ 1)” below, posted via Batushka’s YouTube channel, the one online property Drabikowski still controls. On first listen, there’s no denying it: this track fucking rips. But I’ll leave it to those of you with more knowledge of Batushka’s musical output than I to opine on how it stacks up against the band’s past material.
Meanwhile, the Krysiuk-led Batushka has released a teaser of a new song which was posted here according to Ghost Cult Mag, although it’s not presently online (perhaps the “Calling Hours” times listed on the site have something to do with that).
