Hellyeah Officially Announce Final Album with Vinnie Paul, Debut First Single
After months of build-up, Hellyeah have at last announced a June 28 release date for their new album. We don’t know what the album will be called yet — the pre-order page doesn’t even include final cover art! — but whatever. This Hellyeah release will include the final studio recordings Vinnie Paul completed before he died, and that fact alone will garner interest… even from people like me, who generally don’t like Hellyeah’s music.
Luckily, the first single from the album, “333,” is easily the best thing they’ve released to date… and not just because the title of the song is a reference to Dimebag. For the most part, it’s a straight-up thrash song, devoid of the tacky arena rock accoutrements which have weighed down Hellyeah’s music in the past. It’s not a great song — it could use a stronger hook — but it’s a long way off from “Alcohaulin’ Ass,” that’s for damn sure. Hopefully “333” isn’t an outlier on the final record.
Check out “333” below. Hellyeah will play a special show paying tribute to Vinnie on May 11 in Las Vegas.
