Beto O’Rourke Spotted at Metallica Concert
I’m not too big on Democratic Congressman Beto O’Rourke for president, should he decide to run — he’s not even close to far enough left for me, and his past congressional voting record would qualify him as a Republican in any state other than Texas — but I sure would’ve loved to see him beat Ted Cruz in the Texas Senate race last fall, and I’ll hand it to the guy: he has great taste in music.
You might recall O’Rourke’s brush with music headlines when, in the heated, closer-than-expected race with Cruz, Republicans tried to “expose” Beto for his rock n’ roll past (including a band with Cedric Bixler-Zavala of The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In). That tactic backfired marvelously, endearing him to punks and heshers the country over, especially after this video of Beto performing skate tricks in a Whataburger parking lot surfaced.
O’Rourke’s passion for heavy music didn’t end in his youth, with a number of folks spotting him at a Metallica concert in El Paso, TX this past Thursday night, February 28th, out there in the crowd amongst the plebes. You can check out some photos of O’Rourke at the show below; he certainly looks to be having fun!
