Ozzy Osbourne Postpones Entire UK and European Farewell Tour Due to Illness
Ozzy Osbourne’s health woes continue.
Just a day after The Prince of Darkness announced the postponement of four shows on the current U.K. leg of his farewell tour, The Ozzman has now announced that he “has been forced to postpone the entire U.K. and European leg of his ‘No More Tours 2′ tour [with Judas Priest] on doctors’ orders.”
The reason? While Ozzy was initially thought to be suffering from the flu, he has since “been diagnosed with a severe upper-respiratory infection which the doctor feels could develop into pneumonia given the physicality of the live performances and an extensive travel schedule throughout Europe in harsh winter conditions.”
Says Ozzy in a statement:
“I’m completely devastated for having to postpone the European leg of my tour. It just seems that since October everything I touch has turned to shit. First the staph infection in my thumb and now coming down with the flu and bronchitis. I want to apologize to all of my fans who have been so loyal over the years, my band, my crew and to Judas Priest for letting you all down. However, I promise the tour with Judas Priest will be completed. It’s being rescheduled right now to start in September. Again, I apologize to everyone. God Bless. Love you all, Ozzy.”
You may remember that this past fall, Ozzy was also forced to cancel several shows, in that instance as the result of a staph infection. The poor dude is 70 years old. It seems pretty clear his body is telling him it doesn’t want to endure the rigors of touring anymore. Hopefully he gets to fulfill his current tour obligations and ride off into the sunset. I’d say he’s earned it, wouldn’t you?
