Ozzy Osbourne Cancels Four Shows Due to “Very Bad Case” of the Flu
Ozzy Osbourne’s been through the ringer health-wise over the past several months. The 70-year-old came down with a mysterious hand ailment this past fall (then at the young age of just 69) that initially didn’t seem like a big deal but ended up forcing the cancelation of several shows (it later came out that he had a staph infection). Now he’s come down with a “very bad case” of the flu that’s forced him to cancel four more shows, this time in his native U.K. And last week the Ozzman posted a gnarly photo of a bursted blood vessel in his eye, the result of a severe coughing fit. At least he’s still got his patented sense of humor intact.
Judas Priest, the shows’ openers, broke the news on Instagram:
“It is with great regret we have to announce that the first four UK shows on the Ozzy Osbourne/Judas Priest tour have been postponed due to Ozzy having a very bad case of flu – therefore Dublin, Nottingham, Manchester and Newcastle will be rescheduled at a later date – details to follow once finalised – we are very sorry that this has happened and to disappoint so many fans – we wish Ozzy well and look forward to the Glasgow, Birmingham and London shows together – and to the rescheduled ones in the future.”
While having the flu doesn’t seem like a huge deal, it can often be fatal — especially in older folks — and with all the notorious punishment Ozzy’s put his body through over the years, any time he gets sick is certainly cause for worry. We’re sure he’s got the best medical care in the world, though, and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
