Video: Aziz Ansari Covers Metallica (and Queen) at The Goddamn Comedy Jam
Aziz Ansari = metalhead? A quick Googling turns up a big fat nothing, but the comedian certainly seemed to know his shit when he jammed some Metallica (via Queen) last night at The Goddamn Comedy Jam in Brooklyn.
The Goddamn Comedy Jam — whose tagline is “Every comedian wants to be a rockstar” — is a cover band that invites famous comedians up on stage to perform a song with them after each comedian does a stand-up set. Last night’s bill at Warsaw, as part of The NY Comedy Festival, was advertised as featuring Bill Burr, Nikki Glaser, Josh Adam Meyers, Sal Vulcano, Big Jay Oakerson, and Luis J. Gomez.
You’ll notice that Aziz Ansari’s name isn’t among those, but the Master of None star declared himself the Master of Puppets with a little drop in-action, tackling Metallica’s breakneck cover version of Queen’s “Stone Cold Crazy” both on guitar and vocals. Not only does he look like he’s having a blast, but the dude can play! Watch some fan-filmed footage below.
You never know who's going to show up to the #NewYorkComedyFestival. Last night Aziz Ansari surprised the crowd and went from Master of None to Master of Puppets by shredding some @Metallica and @QueenWillRock during the @TheGDComedyJam at Warsaw Concerts. #MakeNYLaugh pic.twitter.com/9anDhtLCqv
