Former Ghost Members Will Appeal the Dismissal of Their Lawsuit Against Tobias Forge
Lawsuits are fucking expensive. Simon Söderberg, Mauro Rubino, Henrik Palm and Martin Hjertstedt — the four former Ghost members (“Nameless Ghouls”) who filed a suit against band leader Tobias Forge last year alleging he didn’t fairly share band profits with them — have reportedly spent 2.9 Swedish Kronor (around $320,000 USD) on legal fees already. And that doesn’t even include Forge’s own legal fees, a portion of which the plaintiffs have been ordered by the court to cover.
But that’s not stopping the four former Nameless Ghouls from pressing on. At this point, what’s ten or twenty grand extra, right?
After the case against Forge was summarily dismissed by the court earlier this week, the lawyer for the four plaintiffs said he will be appealing the decision, according to Swedish publication SVT. I’m not clear on why they think an appeal will be successful (unless they have new evidence to introduce), but I guess they wouldn’t be proceeding if they didn’t think they had a shot.
I feel bad for these guys. They’re in a real shitty situation, having had to shell out for their legal costs and now Forge’s legal costs in addition to the alleged lost revenue from Ghost. I hope things start to improve for them soon and they can put this all in the past.
