Dave Grohl Left a $333 Tip on a $333 Bar Bill so the Total Hit $666
You thought Dave Grohl’s pre-show drinking routine was righteous? Wait until you see his bar game… but at least he’s a great tipper!
After Foo Fighters gave a surprise performance in L.A. this past August as The Holy Shits, the band visited the legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip. Grohl plopped down his credit card — and let’s assume he was buying rounds for everyone in sight, because that’s the sorta thing Dave Grohl would definitely do — and at the end of the night he ended up with a tab of $333.30.
Drunken math being what it is — second only to dream math, which is impossible — Grohl couldn’t resist the opportunity to attempt hitting the magical number of $666 with a very, very generous tip that doubled the charge. Unfortunately, and by his own admission, alcohol had impaired his ability to make an accurate calculation, with the end result being a still-pretty-metal tally of $666.30:
“Dude, come on. When you get a bill that says $333, it’s like, I’m gonna go the extra mile.
“The sad thing was – I think it was $303.30, but I was too hammered to figure out the $302.70 [Also wrong! – Ed.]… I couldn’t do the real math. Which would have been strong but I was like seeing double at that point.”
Wonder what that “musician wellness expert” who poo-pooed Grohl’s pre-show drinking routine thinks about his latest escapade? Who cares, man. Another round of Lemmys for all!
