BREAKING NEWS: Disturbed’s David Draiman Has Removed His Chin Piercings

These are crazy times, MetalSucks readers. A journalist was killed and dismembered by the Saudi Arabian government for his vocal criticisms of their oppressive tactics. Two hurricanes have ravaged the U.S. coastline in recent weeks and left thousands homeless. Public violence by Proud Boys on NYC streets goes unchecked by the police. A sexual assaulter and habitual liar was elected to the Supreme Court, although who even remember that anymore — “two weeks ago” = ancient history in today’s hyper-speed news cycle.

But this, THIS, my friends, is by far the most crucial news break of late: Disturbed frontman David Draiman has removed his trademark chin piercings. The double-labret dangly things that’ve adorned his chin for the past two decades were already missing in the band’s music video for “Are You Ready,” released in August, but the internet is just noticing now (yours truly included), and Germany’s Deutsche Welle decided to ask Draiman about it in a recent interview:

“They’re kind of a pain in the butt, to be honest. It just felt kind of weird walking around like a 45-year-old Hot Topic kid. I just felt it was time.”

This is the end of an era, folks… in that it is no longer possible to distinguish Draiman from Howie Mandel. R.I.P., David Draiman’s chin piercings!
