Soilwork Officially Announce New Album, Debut First Single
This shouldn’t shock anyone, given that they’ve been teasing it for two weeks, but Soilwork have now made it officially official: they’ll drop a new album, Verkligheten (it means “reality”), on January 11, 2019. The twelve-track release will feature guest appearances from Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis), and Dave Sheldon (Exes For Eyes).
The bad news is, that’s three months away, and now we’re already starting to think about 2019 before we’ve so much as drafted our 2018 Best Of lists. The goods news is, the band has released the album’s first single, “Arrival,” which should help sate your appetite for the time being.
The best news, of course, is that “Arrival” is fucking great, a mix of European melodeath, black metal, power metal, and (dare I say it?) pop, all of which, when amalgamated, convey a bittersweet mix of melancholy and triumph that will make you wanna strap on a suit of armor, mount a mighty steed, and ride off to fight, and maybe die, for something in which you believe. Also, that goddamn guitar is just, MWAH!, perfect. Soilwork really nailed it here.
Love yourself: listen to “Arrival” below. Pre-orders for Verkligheten are here.
