Slipknot Will Open Their Own Haunted House This Fall
Pairing Slipknot with a haunted house is a concept so obvious it seems like someone would’ve thought of it at some point during the band’s 20-year career. Yet here we are in 2018 and this fall will see the first ever official pairing of these peas-and-carrots-like oddities, set to run for three weeks in the band’s hometown of Des Moines, IA.
The idea came from the twisted mind of Shawn “Clown” Crahan because of course it did. The 10,000 square foot house will feature dozens of actors bringing the band’s imagery to life, plenty of Slipknot memorabilia, lots of scary shit, a ton of metal and, allegedly, meet and greets (although the details of those haven’t been made public yet). It’ll run on select dates from October 5th through 28th, and tickets are just 20 bones. More details here.
I have actually never been inside one of these “haunted house” Halloween attractions. True story! I don’t think they existed in NYC when I was growing up. Maybe my parents were just fun-hating curmudgeons.
Slipknot have been working on writing new material, and they’re set to enter the studio in early 2019.
