Cynic’s Paul Masvidal to Release “a Trio of Conceptual Mini-Records”
Last month, Cynic guitarist/vocalist Paul Masvidal revealed that he was “blissfully immersed in recording an acoustic record,” separate from the next Cynic album. I’m not positive that Mythical Human Vessel, the “trio of conceptual mini-records” Masvidal has just announced he’s release over the course of the next six months, is the same acoustic record… but I’m guessing that it is, because in the video Masvidal released with the announcement, he’s playing an acoustic guitar, and the guy only has so much time. I think. Fuck do I know about Paul Masvidal’s schedule.
ANYWAY, just as cool: Masvidal is openly soliciting “filmmakers, editors, animators and other visually inclined artists to put these new songs to visuals.” So if you fall under any of those categories and have ever been a Paul Masvidal fan, here’s your chance to work with the man himself. Interested parties can send links of their work masvidalien AT gmail DOT com. I’m jealous of everyone who gets to participate. Paul, if you’re reading this and you decide you also need a snarky blog post to go along with your mini-records, you know how to reach me.
While we wait to learn more, here’s the announcement and accompanying video:
