Official Cause of Vinnie Paul’s Death Revealed

Initial rumors shortly after Vinnie Paul’s death in June suggested that the legendary Pantera and Hellyeah drummer died of “a major heart attack.” The official results from the coroner have finally come in, and while it’s unclear if a heart attack per se was what finally took Paul’s life, it’s clear that a bad heart was the cause of death.

TMZ reports that Paul died of “dilated cardiomyopathy — an enlarged heart — as well as severe coronary artery disease — a heart condition.” As reported previously, he died in his sleep on the night of June 23rd at his home in Las Vegas, NV.

At this point there isn’t any reason to nitpick over the details surrounding the cause of Vinnie’s death, but it’s definitely a big sigh of relief that Paul didn’t die of an overdose or suicide given how many of those have rocked the metal community in the past few years.
