Get “Gone” with Ancestors’ Gloomy New Video
L.A.-based psych-doom innovators Ancestors have been on our radar since the release of their proggy Pink Floyd-esque Of Sound Mind way back in 2009. Since then, they’ve cut their quintet down to a trio and are getting ready to release their fifth record, Suspended in Reflections.
Ancestors’ latest music video features their moody, atmospheric single “Gone.” The song uses slow, heavy, painful riffs with mournful vocals to create a melodic type of doom that’s both easy to listen to and absolutely heart wrenching. The video is breathtaking both musically and visually, with stunning cinematics to accompany the track’s intensely melancholic aura.
Let it be known, however, that I don’t have a single goddamn clue what’s going on in this video. I watched it three times and still — nothing. Maybe I’m just sleepy or maybe I’m not one to pick up on vague artsy concepts, because this is really throwing me for a loop. If you’re up for a challenge and you think you’re smarter than I (it’s likely), watch the video for “Gone” below and see if you can figure it out. Responses of any merit whatsoever will get a gold star from yours truly.
Order Suspended in Reflections here, out August 24.
