Clutch Teach You to Make Maryland Crab Cakes in New Song “Hot Bottom Feeder”
The YouTube description for the new Clutch song, “Hot Bottom Feeder,” reads simply “A recipe for Maryland crab cakes.” You might think that’s a joke, and maybe, to some degree, it is — I’m sure there are arguments to be made for “Hot Bottom Feeder” as a metaphor for any number of other things (see: Faith No More’s “Sunny Side Up”) — but watch the cooking-show-style music video for about five seconds and you’ll see that the lyrics really are about making Maryland crab cakes. AND, in typical Clutch fashion, the song rules. I don’t enjoy cooking, but this is inspiring. Makes me wish Clutch wrote insanely catchy songs about other things I don’t enjoy, like cleaning, paying bills, and spending time with other people.
I assume “Hot Bottom Feeder” will appear on Clutch’s new album, Book of Bad Decisions, but nowhere has the band explicitly said as much, so I reserve the right to be incorrect. In any case, Book of Bad Decisions is out September 7. The band also has an upcoming tour with Sevendust and Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown; dates here.
