Vinnie Paul Funeral and Public Memorial: Video Stream, Phil Anselmo Speaks and More
It was an emotional weekend for friends, family and fans of Vinnie Paul alike, as the legendary drummer was laid to rest at a private ceremony on Saturday next to his mother and brother, with a public memorial following on Sunday.
Paul was laid to rest in a Kiss-themed casket at the Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, TX (Dimebag was buried in a similar casket). SiriusXM Liquid Metal host Jose Mangin, Grim Reaper guitarist and Vinnie’s longtime friend Nick Bowcott, Kiss’s Ace Frehley, Paul Shortino of Rough Cutt and more spoke at the private event.
The public memorial on Sunday was hosted at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX, with the likes of Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains and drummer Matt Cameron from Soundgarden and Pearl Jam paying their respects via pre-recorded videos. A video from Phil Anselmo was played as well, with Paul’s former bandmate keeping it succinct: “Vince, always have love in my heart for you, man. Rest in peace.” You can watch all of those clips in the video below, which was live-streamed from Pantera’s official Facebook page.
