Clutch Announce Tour with Sevendust and Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown
Perennial road dogs, Clutch have been pretty quiet on the live front so far this year; aside from a small handful of dates with The Bronx and Red Fang this spring with festival appearances as bookends, it’s been bupkes. But that’ll change this fall when the band, who have presumably been using this down time to finish up their new album, will hit the road with some unlikely bedfellows: Sevendust.
While it might seem odd on the surface, the Clutch/Sevendust pairing actually makes a whole lot of sense. Both bands rose to prominence in the late ’90s / early ’00s metal scene, and while their sonic palettes have taken very different trajectories since, I’m willing to bet they’ve got a whole lot of fans in common. For those Clutch fans that aren’t familiar with Sevendust and vice versa, the music isn’t so different that the audience will be appalled; it’s a good opportunity for some crossover. Gotta keep gaining new fans instead of playing to the same folks each time, ya know? It’s not like we’re talking about a Fiona Apple and Portal co-headliner here (although that’d be pretty fucking dope).
Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown — cut from a cloth much more resembling Clutch’s — will open the run. Full list of dates below.
Check out Clutch’s new song “Gimme the Keys” below as well. Book Of Bad Decisions comes out September 7th. “Love a Good Fire,” “How to Shake Hands” and “150 Pesos,” which the band has performed live over the past year, will presumably also be included on the effort.
