Listen to Thrice’s New Song “The Grey”

Proto-metalcore-gone-experimental-post-rockers Thrice debuted a new song called “The Grey” on SiriusXM yesterday. You can check out a lo-fi but passable-sounding rip of the stream below.

My one-listen hot take: “The Grey” is the closest I’ve heard Thrice sound to their Artist in the Ambulance-era stuff since, well… The Artist in the Ambulance. It’s that sense of melody in the chorus we all fell in love with way back when! That said, it’s also got some of the more indie/post-rock flavors the band’s been cooking with ever since, so really this jam should please fans of all eras of this very talented and versatile band.

No word on a new album yet, but the band was in the studio recording earlier this spring. Their most recent album To Be Everywhere is To Be Nowhere was released almost exactly two years ago.
