Anal Cunt Guitarist Josh Martin, 45, Killed in Tragic Escalator Accident

Josh Martin, guitarist in the final line-up of the legendarily provocative grindcore band, Anal Cunt, has passed away as the result of injuries sustained after falling from an escalator. He was 45-years-old.

According to Rhode Island’s WPRI, Martin fell from the escalator at the Providence Place mall around 10:45 p.m. on Memorial Day. Witnesses tell the news outlet that Martin was “clowning around and riding the rail of the escalator” before falling and hitting his head on a food court table below.

The report goes on to say that this was apparently just a tragic mishap:

“Officials said the incident appears to be completely accidental and there is no indication that the victim intentionally jumped or was pushed. Police are reviewing surveillance footage of the incident as they continue to investigate.”

Rather amazingly, this escalator has a history of being involved with severe injuries — a woman fell and died in 2004, while in 2009 a much luckier man also fell but ultimately survived his injuries.

Martin was also part of the doom metal band Adolf Satan.
