Rumor: European Leg of Slayer’s Farewell Tour to Include Lamb of God, Anthrax, and Obituary
It goes without saying that once Slayer complete their North American farewell tour, they’ll head overseas to play for other fans around the world one last time*. But when and where shall they play, and who will they bring along with them?
Well, Metal Insider is reporting a rumor that the answers are in the fall, in Europe, and Lamb of God, Anthrax, and Obituary. All of which is highly plausible and probably true.
Presumably there will be some kind of official announcement in the not-too-distant future. Until then, here are the first leaked dates for the trek:
11/14 Dortmund, Germany
11/15 Zwolle, The Netherlands @ IJsselhallen
11/24 Freiburg, Germany
11/26 Hamburg, Germany
11/29 München, Germany
11/30 Erfurt, Germany
12/02 Berlin, Germany
*So here’s a question: does Rosenberg’s Rule of ‘All Bands Will Eventually Reunite’ apply when a group calls it quits this deep into their career? I’m having a hard time thinking of a precedent by which to determine an answer; Kiss got to the end of their farewell tour and immediately announced they’d changed their minds, but I don’t see that happening here. If I had to make a guess, I’d say that if any version of Slayer ever plays live again, it will either be a special one-off deal, or it will be just a few songs for some special event (e.g., they’re inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or whatever).
