Someone Actually Built the Silicon Valley Bitcoin Alert That Plays Napalm Death’s “You Suffer”
HBO’s Silicon Valley made waves in the metal community a couple of weeks back when one of the shows main characters, Gilfoyle (played by Martin Starr) , wrote a computer program that blasted Napalm Death’s 1.36-second opus “You Suffer” throughout the office whenever the price of Bitcoin dropped below or above the price at which it was worth mining. The program became a running gag throughout the episode much to the delight of Napalm Death fans the world over.
Now someone’s gone to the trouble of building it out IRL. Icelandic website design agency Viska has created a web version of the app, which you can check out right here. The app — which allegedly took just three hours to build — allows the user to specify the price at which Napalm Death’s sweet, sweet music assaults your ears and features a tracker that monitors the current price. Any of you Bitcoin miners out there who know way more about cryptocurrency than I do wanna give it a shot?
