System of a Down’s Daron Malakian Debuts New Song from Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway Featuring Daron Malakian
Update, 10:45 a.m.: The album is called Dictator and it will be out July 20. You can watch the entire “Lives” video at the bottom of the post. Original story follows.
Daron Malakian’s newly rebooted Scars on Broadway — now known as Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway — have released “Lives” their first new song since 2010. I’ve always maintained that SoB’s music was pretty catchy, and “Lives” is definitely that. Also, more so than the band’s previous material, you can totally hear the System of a Down in this. If you added Serj Tankian vocals, this wouldn’t be that far removed from the band’s Mezmerize/Hypnotize era.
Will that be enough to make fans who ignored SoB the first time around give a shit this time? I dunno. Fuck I look like, a fortune teller?
Listen to “Lives” below. A music video for the song drops tomorrow; you can watch a teaser for that below as well. Presumably, we’ll learn what the project’s new album is called and when it’s coming out when the video is released.
