Rumor: Slash Is Working on a New Solo Album with Myles Kennedy
Is it possible that Axl Rose and Slash are stupid enough to spend their time working on new albums that aren’t for Guns N’ Roses?
Last month, a rumor started going around that AC/DC were planning on making a new album with Rose on vocals. And now we have a rumor that Slash is working on a new album with his solo band, which includes singer Myles Kennedy (technically, they’re called Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, but no one actually calls them that).
The rumor apparently began with a pretty decent source: Slash’s girlfriend, Meegan Hodges. Hodges reportedly told fans on Instagram that Slash and Myles were working on new shit back in December. Now Blabbermouth says “it is believed that [Slash] and his bandmates have been laying down tracks since at least January” and that the album will be out in the fall.
It’s not even like I have anything against AC/DC or Myles Kennedy. We just did a video with Myles! He’s a great singer. He’s just not Axl Rose. I don’t know why Axl and Slash would patch up their differences after twenty years, embark upon a tour that has been a license to print money, and then promptly go work on separate projects apart from one another.
(Also, isn’t Alter Bridge releasing a new record this week? Are they planning on being done promoting that by the time Slash releases an album in the fall? That seems like a short cycle, don’t it?)
Rose and GN’R rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus have both said that the band is working on new material with Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, so hopefully, if Slash is making a solo record, it’s just a quick diversion and not a complete distraction.
One way or the other, the mostly-reunited Guns N’ Roses are scheduled to tour Europe together this summer. Get dates here.
