Godsmack Release New Autotune Demonstration Song
Interesting contrast between glam bands and nu-metal bands: a ton of glam bands eventually tried their hand at being industrial/alternative (see: Guns N’ Roses, Mötley Crüe, Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns), while the trend for aging nu-metal bands seems to be to go pop: following in the footsteps of bands like Linkin Park and Papa Roach, the new Godsuck song, “Bulletproof,” is so airy as to make their old material sound like Ulcerate. I’m sure there’s some deeper cultural observation to be made there.
ANYWAY, this crap: a suddenly yarl-less Sully Erna sounds like his vocal performance has been smoothed out with an iron, and the whole thing has a kind of 3 Doors Down vibe to it. It would be out of place in neither a military recruitment ad nor a trailer for a cinematic Nicholas Sparks adaptation.
I’m saying this song is garbage.
If you enjoyed that crap, Godsuck’s new album, When Legends Rise, will be out April 27.
