Ghost’s Next Papa Emeritus Will be Very RED
Here’s what we know so far about Papa Emeritus Zero, the fourth in the rich lineage of Papa Emeritii to grace the stage as the frontman of Ghost: the new Papa is in fact an older Papa, dating back to the Middle Ages, and his outfit has red sleeves, as we learned last month in a video unveiling the 8-track version of the band’s latest live album, Ceremony and Ritual.
That whole red thing just got a bit juicier: on Friday the band changed their Facebook header and profile image to the same slightly maroon tint. We can infer that the sudden burst of activity means Ghost are ramping things up to announce their next album very soon, which would prove true previous reports of a tentative spring release date.
Band leader Tobias Forge has said in interviews that Ghost’s next album will center on subject matter about “death and gloom” and will be based in medieval times but with a metaphorical connection to modern day, possibly as a commentary on the current state of media and “public trials.”
