Get “Trampled” by This New Black Label Society Song
I almost plotzed when I heard the bass intro on Black Label Society’s new single, “Trampled Down Below.” The part that freaked me out only lasts for eight notes, but those eight notes sound a lot like the bass intro to “No More Tears.” And, hey, if anyone should be allowed to rip-off “No More Tears,” it’s Zakk Wylde, who co-wrote that song. Still, I bumped up against it.
For better or worse, that’s where the similarities between “Trampled” and “Tears” end. For the most part, it sounds like it was written by a bunch of dudes drinking beer in a swamp, complimented by a solo so shreddy it could grate cheese. So, in other words, it’s a BLS song.
Listen to “Trampled Down Below,” uh… you know. It will appear on Black Label Society’s new album, Grimmest Hits, which comes out January 19 on eOne. Pre-order it here. The band is on tour with Corrosion of Conformity, Eyehategod, and Red Fang even as I type this; get dates here.
